It is with great sadness that I announce the closing of My Gluten Free Bakery.  Due to a drop in business over the past few months and an increase in overhead, I can no longer afford to keep it open, my last day being April 30, 2011.

             Needless to say, this has been a very difficult decision to make, but there comes a time when I have to think with my head and not my heart. 

             Providing baked goods to those with Celiac Disease and other food intolerances has brought me much joy and I have made many friends in the process. 

           I would like to continue baking some gluten-free celebration cakes, etc.  for customers by using another facility's certified kitchen and as soon as the dust settles, I will begin checking with various places for that purpose.  I plan on using my equipment (mixer and pans) and only their oven so there is no chance of cross-contamination. 

             Various people in the community (perhaps outside of the City limits) bake cakes and/or cupcakes out of their home without having to deal with City Code and Ordinances.  However, for me to bake out of my home located within the City limits, as a “catering/delivery business,” the City would require that I install a separate kitchen in my home that meets City Code requirements and I simply cannot afford to do this.

My Gluten Free Bakery   came to be a reality because of my father who died July 2008 at age 88.  He was diagnosed with Celiac (then called Sprue Disease) in 1984.  I developed Celiac's in December 2007. 

I have always loved to bake and decorate specialty cakes.  After research and contacting the area support groups, I thought "I should start a gluten-free bakery as a service for the community."  I decided to open a "DEDICATED" gluten-free bakery to help all of those, like me, who cannot eat regular gluten products. 

I offer various breads, cheesecakes, white cake, marble cake, etc.  Unfortunately, it is very difficult to offer fresh-baked breakfast pastries, for daily purchases as that of a donut shop.   

My products are mostly by "special order".   Because of the fact that I offer such a wide variety of baked goods, it is impossible to keep everything "on hand" due to the various needs of the customer.   In addition, I strive to provide the customer's order as freshly baked as possible, rather than baking ahead and keeping it in the freezer for a lengthy period of time.  

I will bake gluten-free, casien-free and lactose-free baked goods meeting the specific needs of the customers.
